Over the past several years, Sambhaav Trust has expanded its expertise from rural to urban settings, responding to requests from organisations and local bodies eager to apply ecological restoration and water management principles in cities. Sambhaav’s role in urban areas has focused on developing ecological master plans, site planning, and providing technical guidance to partners such as architects, planners, educational institutions, and municipal agencies.
A central component of the urban work has been technical guidance and community capacity-building, ensuring that residents understand the functioning, maintenance, and long-term management of water and ecological systems. These interventions are closely linked with our documentation and outreach efforts, allowing lessons from city-based water work to be shared with wider audiences across India.
Unlike its hands-on implementation in rural areas, our urban role is primarily advisory—developing ecological Through collaboration, capacity-building, and knowledge sharing has helped shape more sustainable, environmentally sensitive urban spaces, maximising impact through partnerships while keeping direct implementation costs minimal.
